Friendly Banking in These Tough Times

To all our customers.

While it is far from clear whether we have seen the worst of the pandemic, Warwick Gympie Dalby Credit Union is as committed as ever to helping through these difficult times.

As I wrote in earlier messages as well as waiving fees for telephone assisted transactions, helping with new cards and online banking, there are various options and ways to assist that may help including:

  • Consider whether a change from principal and interest repayments to interest only would assist
  • Using funds in advance and in offset accounts
  • Reducing your monthly repayment may be an option if your loan is at a variable rate and was funded before rates went down
  • From September eligible customers may be able to extend existing deferral arrangements by up to 4 months. We will be communicating with all customers before the end of the current deferral to discuss your individual circumstances. If an extension is not the right approach we will discuss other options to assist.

Warwick Gympie Dalby Credit Union continues to strongly support its communities.

As an essential service we are open for business and are processing loans, investments and transactions as quickly and efficiently as possible. For the safety of staff & customers please use telephone, email and Online where possible.

Customers who wish to make staff assisted payments by telephone instead of coming into branches will not be charged any transaction fees.

Customers who normally use passbooks and now want a card are asked to telephone. There is no charge for Visa Debit cards.

Lending customers who need assistance may defer repayments for up to six months. That includes housing, business and personal loans.

Open for Business

As a Government identified essential service, our branches and loans centre remain open, however we ask that you please use our online and App products as much as possible. If you need help with transactions or signing up please call 1300 72 44 33. These are free services. If you visit us, please only do so if you are well and be sure to follow the Government’s social distancing guidelines of 1.5 metres where possible.

Loans Assistance

Home loan, business and personal loan customers can request support by way of deferring repayments, with interest capitalised, for up to six months. For the duration of that support period no repayments will be required. However during this time, interest and charges will add to the loan balance. At the end of the support period, your regular repayment amount will increase to repay the total balance over the remaining loan term (including interest and charges added to the balance during the support period).

We have other options that may suit you more over the time. These are:

  • Use funds from your Offset Account
  • Where you are in advance of scheduled repayments, use those fund
  • Switch to interest only payments
  • If you are paying above the minimum required (which is most people), adjust your repayment to the minimum required.

Thank you for doing business with Warwick, Gympie and Dalby Credit Union. We appreciate that the coronavirus makes this a challenging and difficult time. We are here to help. As a Responsible community business we are committed to protecting our staff and customers. A few points of interest:

  • Our branches and the loans centre are open for business. 
  • The welfare of customers and in particular senior citizens is very important. To minimise time spent in potentially risky people contact situations we encourage everyone to take up our great online and App banking it's FREE. 
  • We appreciate that these solutions will not suit everyone. To assist minimise at risk situations, effective immediately transaction fees will be waived for customers who would normal visit a branch to pay bills or transfer funds. 
  • We continue to provide loans quickly and efficiently. We have passed on - in full- the recent 0.25% pa reduction to variable interest rates for Home, Personal and Business customers. 
  • As a responsible safety measure some staff will work form different sites at different times. This is a prudent approach to reduce risks. 
  • we understand that many local events depend on Credit Union sponsorship. When activities are cancelled organisers still incur many of the costs. As we have done during the drought, when a sponsored event is cancelled due to coronavirus we will still make our agreed contribution.
