The Customer Owned Banking Association today encouraged Australians to get involved in MoneySmart week by using online tools and mobile apps to take control of their finances.

Money SmartCOBA is a supporter of MoneySmart week and the easy to use tools available to improve financial circumstances.

“MoneySmart Week puts some fun into reviewing household finances,” COBA Chief Executive Louise Petschler said.

“Taking a few moments this week to review expenditure, do a budget and do a Money Health check are simple ways to make a big difference.

“The Money Health Check that reviews your financial health and suggests an action plan is an excellent initiative.”

Customer owned banking institutions are strong supporters of improving financial literacy in their communities to help customers reach their goals for the future.

“Clearly some households are doing it tough, which is why an initiative like MoneySmart week is so important,” Ms Petschler added.

“Taking a small amount of time from busy schedules this week to review household finances could provide some great steps to take to reduce financial stress and help reach longer term goals.”

The Money Health Check is available at www.moneysmartweek.org.au or via a free App from the Apple App Store or the Google Play store.

Other tools available include “TrackMySpend”, an app that records expenditure.

MoneySmart Week was set up last year as an initiative of the Financial Literacy Board.
